Brad Boehringer
Farmer & Owner
Descending from a family of marine engineers & Mid-Western farmers, Brad grew up with a curious mind towards people in careers that impacted the natural world. Once having worked with sugar-cane farmers & gold miners in Latin America, he fell in love with helping communities find ways to make a living off working in partnership with nature.
In 2014, Brad began working as a farmhand with Walrus and Carpenter Oysters, farming oysters by day, and shucking them at a local raw bar by night. Each day he’d learn something new about how the oysters were enhancing and protecting the environment in which they grow… and each night he’d get to tell customers at the raw bar all about it.
In 2016, Brad started his own farm in Point Judith Pond and in 2023 he purchased Walrus and Carpenter Oysters from its founder, Jules Opton-Himmel. Oyster farming presents Brad with the unique opportunity to be in a perpetual state of both learning & teaching… with both his crew, and his community.
Brad graduated from Dickinson College in 2013 with a degree in Globalization & Sustainability… he only lives 10 minutes from the pond with his dog Pepi, and a rotating flock of semi-domesticated waterfowl.
